Childhood Series
Believe it or not, when I was a child there weren't many series on TV, besides, I used to live in the 8th region, in a lost town in the middle of nowhere and we did not receive much technology nor state of the art cinema, theatre, cultural venues, etc.
It was the late 80's and national TV was the only option available, and consequently, the very limited programmatic grid they offered and the series that you could see were quite classical, the typical Disney style, with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and my favourite: Goofy.
I cannot tell you that I really remember their adventures on screen, because I was less than 5 years old, but I do remember having felt very proud after receiving positive appraisal from my parents when I was able to properly pronounce Goofy's spanish name (Tribilín), which was hard for someone mastering language in his early years.
As years went by, things changed in my life and in the country, and in the year 1995, there was a new service arriving into the region, it was CABLE TV!!!!! The first couple of months, and since it was a real novelty, not many people seemed to have hired the service, and the channels were not all yet given in Spanish. It was then when I discovered Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network Channels, and also Scooby Doo. To my best profit, the TV shows for kids were broadcast in English only!.
I remember I really Really REALLY loved not understanding the shows but I was happy when I realized Scooby and his gang had solved a mystery, I was happy just by understanding even only the gist of the episode.
Later in my life, I changed my likes from cartoons to soap operas and series, series with human beings and with more adult-like topics. My favourite has always been Friends and Seinfeld, and still nowadays I prefer series rather than cartoon, although to be honest, after letting my self be stimulated by my current students, I am developing a crave for anime series and movies.
Hi teacher, the first episodes of Scooby-Doo are the best, my mom showed me the series when I was very little and I agree that the best part was when they discovered the mystery. Hopefully I can see some anime movies, I recommend Studios Ghibli.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! Scoby Dooh was also one of my favorite series. Especially the old version. It was the biggest suspense I ever felt in my childhood. I always remember a chapter or it was a movie where they caught a mummy haha I saw it like 100 times.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! How nice to have the memory of feeling emotion for something new of the time =) PS: My favorite series is Friends hahaha
ResponderEliminarHi teacher!, I think the old cartoons are better than the new ones from this time. And I think is very interesting that you watched cartoons in english.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! I loved Scooby Doo when i was young. I agree that the old cartoons had a special magic. However, the new ones are trying to repeat that magic

Hi teacher! Friends is also one of my favorite series, when someone tells me that they also like the program I always ask them if they think that Rachel made the right decision by not going to Paris. What do you think?
ResponderEliminarI confess that the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the Scooby-Doo meme was that song that goes: “Scooby-Doo pa pa, y el pum pum pum”. Back to the previous topic, the shows that you watched were pretty good!! There is a reason why they continue to be sold as a franchise, either through clothes, items or live action movies.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! I have to say that I agree with my classmates, the olds cartoons are the best, those of these times are very boring. Friends is also one of my favorite series, it´s iconic! My favorite character is Joey. Which one is yours?
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! the old cartoons are the best, the old design is most beautiful and I think that have a better story.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, when I was little, I was a big fan of Disney Channel cartoons I watched them in the morning before going to school and on weekends.
ResponderEliminarAnd like you I enjoyed watching Scooby Doo series and movies.
Hello teacher, in my opinion cartoons are the perfect example of how to age badly. But, maybe i said this because now i dont see cartoons jajajjajjajaj.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher,
ResponderEliminarScooby-Doo was amazing!!! Sometimes when I am channel-surfing and I come across a chapter, obviously I see it.
Cable TV really changed everything. In my childhood the channels with cartoons were my babysitter haha.
ResponderEliminarThe goolden times of the television will never come back. Respect scooby Doo, I don't know why, but I alway remember the movies on vhs of Scooby Doo at blockbuster, the live action was so creepy.
ResponderEliminarHi Teacher! "Scooby-Doo", what a classic! I always saw a remake version on the TV, but I'm still prefering the old. Another great show by the creators of "Scooby-Doo" is "The Flintstones", a really funny and nice comedy for all the family.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! Scooby- Doo was the BEST, and also the movies are very funny and classic haha
ResponderEliminarHi teacher!
ResponderEliminarI remember that when I was young I really enjoyed watching Scooby Doo. Their mysteries were too entertaining! However, the current animated series seems to me to be too boring, it does not have the same essence as before.
Greetings!
Hi teacher, I remember that Shaggy was always talking nonsense but he was the funniest!! jjjej

ResponderEliminarteacher, when I saw Scooby doo in this post many memories arrived to my head. I tohought the same as you: I cuoldn´t understand the cartoon at it´s fullest, but I enjoyed so much the dark sense of humor og it´s characters. Thanks for this.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, I remember having seen an episode of Scooby-Doo, and I remember that the villains always had a mask to pretend to be someone else.I think they used that resource a lot hahaha.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, It's crazy because when I was a child I didn't like Scooby-doo because I hated his drawings. But, today I think that Scooby Doo is a masterpiece of TV shows.
ResponderEliminarThe suspense that Scobby Doo generated until discovering the mystery was very funny, many times I did not expect those endings.

ResponderEliminarHello teacher. The same luck with the television in my house, ironically I never liked Scooby Doo. I remember seeing it when I was little, but I preferred other cartoons
ResponderEliminarHello teacher. When I was a kid, I also watch a lot of cartoons. Scooby-Doo was one of my favourites. I really enjoy your blog.
ResponderEliminarHello teacher, I have never seen a complete Scooby Doo episode, I have always been very scary and I was afraid to watch the episodes, even though it was an animated series hahahahahahahah
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, I hope you are well, Scooby Doo is one of my favourite series as a child, I watched all the live action movies! and I remember playing his games on the computer when I was little, he is one of the best cartoons ever! haha.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher! I also really loved those shows as a child. I lived a similar experience as you but with comics. My grandmother always gave comic books about Mickey and Donald Duck, but they all were in French, because she was a french teacher and she wanted me to learn it. I never understood them, but I had a lot of fun watching the drawings.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, I really love Scooby Doo I always watches in canal 13 around 10:00 am I think on weekends, I think all of those series tare part of our essence.
ResponderEliminarHi teacher, what a coincidence, Scooby doo was also one of my favorite series, now the design of the characters and plot is very far from what it was before.
ResponderEliminarIn my time I saw the Scooby Doo movies acted by real people and now that I see them over time, I think they are really bad. I also remember going to the Cartoon Network website to play the Scooby Doo games.
ResponderEliminarHello Professor! When I was a kid I also liked Scooby Doo, especially the character of Shaggy.
ResponderEliminarWoaaah, to think that those days there was very few programs, then public channels, and now netflix, amazon and many more possibilities that gives us the opportunity to watch series. It makes me think how the home entertainment has evolved since then.
